I CAN PUSH PIXELS TOO
Art Direction + Creative Design
Strategic, illustration-led design that brings ideas to life, from early concept through to the final thing.
NOT JUST AN ILLUSTRATOR
Where I can help you.
I'm a designer as much as I am an illustrator, and the two inform each other constantly.
I combine design thinking with illustration to create work that feels distinctive, clear and a little bit unexpected. Whether it's a brand identity, a campaign, a website or a physical space, the goal is always the same: visuals that actually say something.
Illustration is my niche, but I'm equally at home when typography, photography or mixed media are doing the heavy lifting. If you have a project that sits somewhere in between, get in touch and we'll figure it out together.
-
I've worked in-house, I've worked with agencies, and I've learned that the best outcomes come from understanding the brief deeply before touching anything.
I help projects stay cohesive from early concept through to final artwork, making sure the idea that sparked everything in the first place is still visible at the end.

I do my best work in collaboration. That means clients who value creative input, come with a brief (or at least a clear problem to solve) and are ready to be part of the process.
I work regularly with creative agencies, in-house design teams and organisations in the arts, culture, education, environment and healthcare sectors.
I'm at home working alongside creative directors and art directors, or stepping into an art direction role where needed, and contributing to campaigns, public art projects and communication programs that mean something beyond the bottom line.
How we work together
Every project starts with a conversation about where you are, where you want to be and what you need to say to get there.
From there, I develop a creative approach shaped around your specific goals, whether that's a single campaign asset or a full design system built to work across every touchpoint.
You'll be involved throughout, not just at the start and end. That means clear communication, a process that makes sense and outcomes you've genuinely had a say in, from first concept through to final delivery.
Where a project calls for it, I collaborate with developers, photographers, animators and other designers to deliver the full picture. So if your project needs more than one pair of hands, I can help pull the right people together.
The creative process.

Let's get on the same page!
Once we’ve had our initial chat, you’ve sent a brief, I have sent an estimate and you’ve accepted it. Now it begins.
You'll put down a 30% deposit, then we jump on a call to talk through your goals, your audience, and what you need the design to do.Bring your references, your competitors, your gut feelings about what's not working.
-
Exploring the territory!
After getting your early thoughts after I dig into your space, gather references and start mapping out early directions.
I pull it all into a mood board and creative direction document (visual tone, palette, typography references, overall approach – all depends on what type of project we’re working on) delivered as a PDF for your review.
If you already have a strong brief or we've worked together before, we can move straight to concepts.
-
Getting the thinking right.
With direction agreed, I develop initial concepts: layout, hierarchy, visual language. This is where the idea takes its first real shape. I'll share draft designs, sketches, and mockups for your review, and we'll refine from there — a round or two of feedback depending on the project's scope.
-
One piece before the rest.
For larger projects or multi-asset work, I finalise one piece first to make sure the design system, palette and tone feel exactly right before rolling it out across everything.
-
Almost there!
With concepts approved, I move into full production. One round of feedback here for small refinements -- no major redirects at this stage.
-
Yours, ready to use!
Final approval triggers final delivery -- files packaged and formatted for wherever they're going, print, digital, or both.
Every project is different. This gives you a feel for how I typically work -- the stages, the touchpoints, the feedback loops -- but the process adapts to fit what your project actually needs. A brand identity and a campaign asset don't follow the exact same road, but we'll outline our process before we start so we know exactly where we're headed. Happy to adapt to your workflow, always.
